You come up with a great idea for a business - your passion! - You take the courses that you need to be qualified in your chosen field and you start your business. So, Why Does It Fail? Well, it is because taking your Passion and making it into Profit not only takes education it also takes commitment to a schedule. When you become your own boss you think that you can make your own hours, come and go as you please and play President. Your business is your Job and when you start looking at it that way, you realize that you need to show up every day on time and put your hours in as if you were going to a 9 to 5 job.
Here is my suggestion; sit down with a piece of paper and a pen, start your schedule from when you wake up in the morning and plan it from there, putting in times, etc.
It may look like this for example - my schedule:
When you adhere to a schedule and actually work at your business, treating it like your Job, you WILL succeed. Being self-employed does not mean going shopping when you please, going for long lunches with friends and watching T.V. during the day. Unless it is business related, you have to say "NO" and leave your social time to the weekends or the evenings. - 6:30 - Wake Up
- 6:30 to 7:15 - Coffee and do some reading and check e-mails
- 7:30 to 8:30 - Workout
- 8:30 to 9:00 - Meditate
- 9:00 to 9:30 Shower and get ready for work
- 9:30 to 12:30- In my office, seeing clients, answering emails and writing blogs
- 12:30 to 1:30 - Lunch
- 1:30 to 4:30- In my office seeing clients, answering emails and writing blogs
- Now this is where my schedule is flexible; if I have clients in the evening, then I see them or go to networking meetings, or spend time with my husband, my grandchildren and friends.
